What we read in February

Most of us are familiar with the award winning film version starring the iconic Leonardo DiCaprio (who finally won an Oscar!) and the beautiful Carey Mulligan. Yes, the glittering parties and good-looking cast had us hooked. But The Great Gatsby written by F. Scott Fitzgerald pulled on our heartstrings even more. This American Classic is something you cannot miss out on.
Set in 1920s America, the aftermath of the first World War was also known as the “Roaring Twenties”. The Great Gatsby depicts the Jazz Age of music and dance, the pursuit of the American Dream and the dangers of unrealistic dreams. What makes this book so magical is Fitzgerald’s poetic language imbued with elegance and sophistication. This classic will bring you back to the parties and the decadence of the flapper era with vivid descriptions and flawless syntax.

"So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past."
